A big thank you to Candia McKormack who asked some fab questions for the 5 minute interview, as part of the June issue of Cotswold Life. I love the title she came up with, ‘like a natural woman’, a long time favourite song of mine…..
The article has come at a perfect time as we have a village event taking place on the 24th and 25th June…a lot of gardens in the village will be open including mine, along with the studio. I will be showing my latest work that has been inspired by the gravel garden border at the front of our cottage….I was given a copy of Beth Chatto’s Gravel Garden book years ago and was very taken with the idea of drought tolerant planting. Gardens and flowers are somewhere that we can escape to and into, and can provide endless awe and fascination; I have loved them from a very young age, and it feels very natural for them to be the basis for a lot of my paintings..I am aiming to paint what we feel when we see flowers, rather than just passing by the flowers in the garden.
Don’t forget the workshops that I am running – a new block of 10 watercolour classes are starting in september ( dates on the previous post – be sure to ring and book, I have 5 spaces available.
